Diving is one of the most popular aquatic disciplines. This sport combines acrobatic skills, body flexibility and muscle strength of an athlete. There are five types of stepping in competition for men and women, namely: 1m board, 3m board, 10m tower, 3m board synchronization, and 10m tower synchronization. Diving was contested since the I Asian Games in New Delhi 1951. China is the most dominate country in diving, as they dominate this from the VII Asian Games Tehran 1974 with a total of 70 pieces gold medals.

Diving is performed from a high platform above a pool and divers hit the water from this high platform with a speed of up to 55km/h.

Points are awarded up to 10 points depending on the elegance and skill. The points are affected by the degree of difficulty. Which is based on the number and times of the maneuvers attempted like surmersult, spikes, tucks and twists. They are judged by a panel of selected judges.
