DPR Korea lifter wins gold in women’s 75 kg 


DPR Korea’s lifter Rim Jong Sim added another gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games women’s weightlifting 75 kilogram category at the JIExpo, Jakarta, on Sunday.

Rim Jong Sim, who had the biggest entry total before the match, recorded a total weight of 263 kilograms, winning gold.

Rim Jong Sim lifted 116 kg in the snatch category and 147 kg in the clean and jerk. Rim Jong Sim completed all of her lifts successfully.

In the snatch the lifter, who was born on Feb. 5, 1993, lifted the barbell at all opportunities given, comprising 110 kg, 113 kg and 116 kg.

In the clean and jerk, three lifts were performed perfectly at 137 kg, 142 kg and 147 kg.

The silver medalist in the women's 75 kg, Uzbekistan’s Omadoy Otakuziyeva, lifted a total of 237 kilograms, 1 kilogram ahead of third placed lifter, the Republic of Korea’s Mun Minhee.

Omadoy failed once in the snatch, namely the third lift weighing 103 kg, while succeeding in the previous two of 97 kg and 101 kg.

In the clean and jerk she lifted the barbell on all occasions, at 127 kg, 131 kg and 136 kg, bringing the total lift to 237 kilograms.

The bronze medal went to the RO Korean lifter, with 263 kilograms in total – 106 kg from the snatch category and 130 kg from the clean and jerk.

Turkmenistan Lifter Aysoltan Toychyyeva failed to continue after failing to lift in the snatch, with each barbell weighing 88 kg.
