China takes all gold medals in diving
The Chinese contingent took all the gold medals from diving, comprising two gold medals in the women's 3 meter springboard and the men's 10 m platform in the 2018 Asian Games final at the Aquatic Center, Jakarta, Saturday on night.
China’s Shi Tingmao, who won two Olympic gold medals, took home the gold medal with 389.40 points, while compatriot Wang Han collected a silver medal after obtaining 383.40 points.
Young Malaysian diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri won a bronze medal with 330.75 points.
"This gold medal is an amazing gift of my hard work. This is an opportunity and a driving force for me to continue improving myself," Shi Tingmao told reporters after the match.
The achievement of the 27-year-old athlete was indeed not easy. She suffered an injury to her back and groin in late 2017 and early 2018. Previously, she also suffered a shoulder injury.
For the men's 10 m, the gold medal was won by Chinese diver Yang Jian with 579.10 points, overtaking his compatriot Qiu Bo who scored 566.60 points.
In the preliminary round on the same day, Qiu Bo was in first position with 561.15 points, while Yang Jian was in second place with 532.10 points.
Korea's (KOR) diver Woo Haram scored 477.55, winning bronze, however he underperformed in the final.
China also secured all the gold medals in all categories of the men’s and women’s synchronised 3 m and 10 m.
